Mountain View Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point therapy is also known as Neuromuscular Therapy and applies finger pressure to "trigger points" (painful irritated areas in muscles) to break cycles of spasm and pain. It appears that most muscular pains have a trigger point that causes the muscle to go into spasms.
Trigger Point Therapy involves placing pressure on that trigger point so that the muscle can relax and the pain can be lessened. This form of therapy is often followed by stretching the muscles. After locating the trigger point or points, the therapist will use several different finger techniques of varying pressure on and around the points in order to break down the build-up of the knot.
Depending on the size of the trigger point, it may take several visits to the therapist in order to be assured that the entire trigger point has been deactivated. However, untreated trigger point is likely to cause increased, spreading pain and future problems with balance and correct posture.
Relief for Decreased Mobility and Fibromyalgia
Trigger points on the body are classified as either active or latent. Active points are the source of muscular pain. We apply effective treatment to release pain and physical tension at its source through massage treatment in an alternate area. Latent trigger points, on the other hand, do not always correspond to pain in another part of the body and may cause discomfort only when constricted. Frequently the cause of stiff joints and declining mobility as we age, latent trigger points are also associated with chronic pain syndromes that include fibromyalgia. Releasing trigger points increases muscle strength and flexibility and improves range of motion. Many clients experience significant relief following one or two trigger point therapy treatments. The frequency of treatment varies and depends on your condition.
